The 50-year-old New Rochelle attorney, who was the first in the area and second person in New York to contract the virus, was driven to NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville last month by a neighbor before the coronavirus outbreak started.
"The hospital is in regular contact to monitor this person’s condition and needs," Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin said. “All other employees tested for the virus to date have been negative.”
Lawrence Hospital doctors treated the original case before the man was moved to NewYork-Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he is in serious, but stable condition.
On Friday, March 6, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced there were 11 new confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in the state, bringing the total to 33.
Each of the new cases, including the Lawrence Hospital employee, was directly tied to the attorney, Cuomo said.
It is unclear what work the employee did at the hospital.
As of March 6, there have been 100,776 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, leading to 3,412 deaths. There have been 237 positive tests in the United States.
